Racial Hararsement Case

In August 2024, an asphalt paving company agreed to pay $1.25 million and to settle an EEOC lawsuit. The lawsuit outlined the various acts of harassment and discrimination towards their Black employees. Over 12 of their employees experienced the acts; facing hostile environments of racial harassment and degradation. Including being forced to use outdoor bathrooms while their white coworkers used indoor ones, they were called racial slurs, and experienced many acts of threatening behavior. In an extreme case, managers/supervisors brought guns to the workplace and even reached for the gun in one occurrence. These behaviors were made known to the supervisors and the heads of the company but they never took the any action to attempt to stop it.
